Based on a Persian poem by the Sufi mystic, Baba Taher, c. 1000 A.D.:

My love and I
Are so intertwined
That I cannot distinguish
Between myself and her.

The wood for this statue is so hard that it was rejected for use as a railroad tie, and its final smoothing took 348 hours of sanding by hand.
