Granite moraine stone on White Maple

Often, I would look at the rings of trunks and wonder about the past. Then during the 1980's, in central Iowa, I would come across chunks of Terminal Moraine rocks that were dropped when glaciers retreated. Some of these rocks, like the one in this statue, displayed layers of eons ago. I juxtaposed one against the other. "Decades" are represented by the wood, with its concentric age circles; "Eons" are represented by the stone. The wood rests on four chrome hitching balls.
